| Attorney General intervention over
Meadow By Fassit UK May 20, 2006 Lord Goldsmith QC, The Attorney General The Attorney General is to intervene in an appeal over the Sir Roy Meadow case. Meadow was struck off the medical register Fassit have learned that the Attorney General is to intervene in an appeal involving Professor Sir Roy Meadow the expert in Sally Clark cot death trial, Meadow was struck off for serious professional misconduct. The High Court reached a decision in February that the General Medical Council (GMC) did not have sufficient powers to strike off doctors who made mistakes as expert witnesses in court. Lord Goldsmith QC has now asked to take part in a Court of Appeal challenge of this decision. It is rumoured he will support the GMC's right to take action in such cases and has said that "he thinks that the High Court decision was wrong and that the public does deserved some protection from experts in giving evidence in court. The appeal by the GMC will now have a strong supporter but Lord Goldsmith should have been involved in many other cases a long time ago. Even now, he knows perjured evidence in the Family Courts, by social workers, paediatricians and others....Is being protected from prosecution. See the Justice MacFarlane case, to name but one. The AG has a long way to go before we can say he has conducted his responsibilities satisfactorily. I will believe some meaningful attempt has been made when the first social workers and paediatricians have been prosecuted.... Then I expect steps to be taken to seek restitution of the monies spent in those cases involving the social workers/paediatricians. That would include a civil action against the social workers/paediatricians....... And include bankrupting the social workers/paediatricians to recover all the monies..... Anything less.....And my task will remain unfinished. |
