Halycon Days of Legalised Kidnappings by Pamela E Sharp Vanessa Brookes a 36 week pregnant registered blind mother living in Calderdale with her husband Martin has been informed that their is every possibility when her baby is born it will be taken for adoption. Previous unfounded allegations by Warwickshire Social Services have continued to plague this family's life, and have resulted in her two older children being adopted without Vanessa's consent. The Times It would seem that he (In Camera) closed family court system is endorsing and even encouraging Social Services to increase their Government Targets on adoptions by granting the forced adoptions that come before their court, the majority involving babies and young children. It is hard not to come to any other conclusion when spurious allegations are inferred by the Social Services. You see you there is no going back on a such a serious decision as adoption, even when the High Court disproves the allegations at a later date, as they have in Vanessa Brookes case. Initially the government guidelines were to reduce the number of children in care, most of whom are older children, some with severe handicaps, many with social problems and behaviour disorders, who are an economic drain on the local authorities. But instead of adopting out these children, the Social Services are targeting tiny babies, some even unborn, and small children with clean history's for the ever growing adoption market. None of these measures are to do with "The Best Interest of The Child" they are all about economics and meeting Government Targets. There were over 500???? enforced adoptions similar to this in 2006??? How long before we return to the Golden Halycon Days Of Adoptions of the 50's and 60's when babies were taken at the rate of 26k per year for reasons that are now seen as punitive. The majority of mothers at that time, were unsupported unmarried teenagers. They were deliberately isolated from their friends and family by an army of Adoption Social Workers. Benefits were withheld from them, some were even placed in institutions and unmarried mothers homes were they were coerced into having their tiny babies adopted We must all wake up and stop this happening again. We must not allow Social Services to become those dictators of yesteryear. We must stop the family courts granting these enforced adoptions against the most vulnerable of our society, as at present they are concentrating on the blind, the disabled, the mum's with learning difficulties, the smokers, the overweight, the sick. How soon before the Social Services target all unmarried mothers of a certain social/economic status as their predecessors did back in the 50s and 60s. Vanessa Brookes and her unborn child need protecting from her local
Social Services and the In Camera Family Court System that promotes
enforced unjust adoption. A system that is more transparent would be
preferable, and adoption should not be granted in cases of dispute. Ifthese simple measures were carried out we would not be reading Vanessa Brooke's story as Social Services would concentrate their efforts on the children that they are meant to be helping. By Pamela E Sharp Back |
